The Volhard Rescue diet is a dehydrated base mix which is hypo-allergenic, anti-inflammatory, grain-free and gluten-free. Like Volhard’s other diets, the pet parent adds the primary ingredient - protein(raw or cooked) which can be rotated or tailored to the dog's needs. The Rescue diet was formulated to help heal dogs suffering with food intolerances, GI issues, recovering from illness or injury or needing a food low on the glycemic index. The ingredients in this diet have been carefully selected to support a variety of health needs. When combined with the appropriate protein source, Rescue can be used as a temporary diet during recovery or as a long-term, balanced option for dogs that have difficulty tolerating grains.
Rescue is a dehydrated foundation base mix that supports the liver, kidney, heart, lungs, stomach, and digestive tract. The ingredients in the Rescue diet include; a freeze dried USDA inspected organ meat (liver), a rainbow of vegetables, various supportive herbs, and other functional foods. Raw feeding has never been simpler!
Rescue was formulated under the guidance of a Board Certified Veterinary Nutritionist to outperform the nutritional levels for all breeds, sizes and activity levels for adult dogs. This diet can be used to feed puppies including large breed puppies - please follow our puppy feeding guidelines.
This diet has the quality you can see and smell the moment you open the bag and serve this up. Watch your dog lick the bowl clean following this delicious meal! Made in the USA, our human-edible/food-grade, whole food ingredients are non-GMO and preservative-free. We utilize a single-step cold dehydration technique to ensure that top quality raw materials are only dehydrated once, preserving essential vitamins and minerals for optimal nutritional value.

Build a Bowl
Every dog is special. But it’s not just their personality. Every dog has unique nutrition needs based on their breed, size, shape, activity level and many other factors. The best way to help your dog be the best version of themselves is to build a healthy, balanced bowl that’s a combination of grains, vegetables, proteins, hydrators and supplements that are specific to your pet.
When you build a bowl here at Volhard, you will start with the choice of foundation mix. For better planning, it’s helpful to think about the dog you plan to feed and their issues first. This is where you can determine the "personality" of your bowl.
Build-a-Bowl is a fun way to find out what the nutritional value is in a bowl of Volhard! Then you will be asked to add a protein for a delectable super-powered meal for your dog!

FOR PUPPIES LARGER THAN 60 LBS AT 6 MONTHS CONTACT US
RESCUE can be stored unopened in a cool dry place for up to 1 year. After opening,
RESCUE must be stored in the fridge or freezer and is good for 6 months after opening.
The Transition
Add a small amount of RESCUE and protein to the current diet you are feeding your dog now and mix with water. As the week progresses, gradually increase the amount of NDF2, protein, and water, at the same time decreasing the current diet by a corresponding amount, until you have phased out the current diet. (If you are feeding the same protein for six days, you may want to feed another protein - canned mackerel or cottage cheese - on the seventh day.) At the end of the transition period, weigh your dog. Weigh them again after four weeks. Increase or decrease the amount you feed accordingly.
Recommended Protein: 80/20 beef.

Three weeks
We are just 3 weeks in and very pleased. Our GSD has battled cancer 4 times and is the best dog! I noticed her stool first. This is the first time in years that she’s had stool that’s not runny without meds or holistic herbs. I’m looking forward to seeing more progress. A shout-out to my niece Heather Dennis for referring me!

Rescue
I was initially just trying the product. My Lab has allergies and straight raw is not enough. I swapped out the kibble that was the problem for rescue and her allergies are now manageable.

Riley’s a fan!
Volhard Rescue has been our go to diet for about 6 months. Riley is allergic to so many diets but not this one. She loves it. We love that it’s a real chunky ingredient base and not ground into a powder like so many.

Life Saving Food
My husband and I are convinced this food saved our dogs life. We went through many years of trying to figure out his digestive issues, throwing up bile, diarrhea etc. Our poor pup has been through intestinal surgery twice now, was diagnosed with pancreatic and bound to be on medication for the rest of his life at 9 yo. We went looking for other options and came across this food. We mix it with beef for him and he LOVES it.. We didn't think our boy would make it much longer but he is now healthy and has almost as much energy as a puppy at 12 years old. He is med free and no more GI issues! We are so grateful for this product, it truly changed our pups life and ours. THANK YOU!

The Biggest Difference!!!
We started Rescue for a lot of reasons, I cannot say enough how wonderful it has been for our Doodle who has food allergies, skin scabbing, etc.… it did take us a while to find the protein that worked best, but we have !!!!

Volhard rescue diet
My fifty-pound boxer/pit/mix girl Rigby was having severe digestive problems. I finally found Volhard Rescue mix that I add my own gently cooked ground beef and or ground pork. It has really helped heal my girl Rigby. She has been on it for about two years and is so healthy and happy for her 10 years. I had tried a few other specialty dog diets before I found Volhard Rescue. I could not be happier with the results. And she LOVES it!
